Toyota Australia just teased the updated Toyota HiLux. The powertrain will be fitted with a 48V mild hybrid system, and there will be a minor facelift on the exterior and interior.

Toyota Australia stated that this 48V mild hybrid system will be a standard feature on the HiLux SR5 double cap and Rouge trim. The SR5 trim is equivalent to our local Hilux 2.4L V variant, with the main difference being that the SR5 is fitted with the 2GD-FTV 2.8L turbo diesel engine.

2023 HiLux GR-Sport 

The 48V mild hybrid system is also available as an option for the SR double cab ( equivalent to the 2.4L E variant). 

Toyota Australia also stated that the introduce of the 48V mild hybrid system to the 2.8L turbo diesel, helps improve the fuel economy and engine smoothness. The 48-Volt system comprises a motor generator, 48-Volt battery and DC/DC converter which enables a stop/start system as well as enhancing driveability and fuel efficiency while reducing noise, vibration and harshness. 

Although that being said, this updated Toyota HiLux still have to wait untill March to make it's official debut in Auntralian market.
