BMW Group Malaysia delivers 1,600 EVs in 2024

BMW Group Malaysia delivered 1,600 fully-electric models as of Q3 2024, allowing the company to retain its position as the country’s leading premium electric vehicle provider.
The figure makes up 19% of the group's total deliveries this year - out of 8,700 vehicles across the BMW and MINI brands at the aforementioned period.
The group cites its commitment to leading with Technology Openness as a key factor for this achievement.
This is an approach that prioritises offering internal combustion engine, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles to give customers the freedom to choose the technology that best suits their lifestyle.
“Our power of choice philosophy defines the approach of the BMW Group to innovation in Malaysia. With every new, premium vehicle we introduce locally, our focus remains on giving our customers access to advanced technologies and the best in performance, design, and sustainability.
"Whether choosing electric innovation or high-performance combustion, we stay true to our promise: Sheer driving pleasure for every customer, with the power of choice to decide what drives them,” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director Benjamin Nagel.
BMW Group Malaysia has also been aggressive in 2024 through various launches and initiatives.
The year saw the launch of the BMW iX2, the BMW i5 M60, variants of the BMW 520i as well as the all-new MINI family.
Through strategic partnerships with various EV charging providers in Malaysia the group has made over 2,020 charging facilities available in its network to its customers so far.
Over 100 BMW i and MINI charging facilities are also available at most authorised dealerships, as well as partnering venues across the country, with more to come as part of the strategic infrastructure expansion plan set for the future.
Additionally, the group has partnered up with the likes of Malaysia Airlines, the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) 2024, and the Maybank Championship 2024 to further drive electrification in the country.
Globally, the BMW Group saw a 19.1% increase in sales of fully-electric vehicles (BEVs) between January and September this year, with over 300,000 units delivered to customers worldwide.
On a wider level, BMW Group Malaysia’s performance and investment into its key partnerships to reflect its stance in navigating a complex market landscape with a long-term, technology-open approach, ensuring stability without risking short-term overhauls.
BMW Group Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region senior vice president Jean-Philippe Parain also reiterated on the group's continued focus on luxury.

Parain also outline the strategic role of Malaysia as the BMW Group accelerates its efforts towards sustainable initiatives in the region.
“Each advancement we make is supported by a collaborative ecosystem here in Malaysia, as we continue to build upon the partnerships and infrastructure necessary to accelerate the adoption of future mobility solutions, establishing Malaysia as a leader in Southeast Asia’s automotive transformation,” said Parain.
