AFTER launching a number of sporty models BYD Malaysia now turns its attention towards capturing a more family-oriented audience.

The BYD M6 is an all-electric 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle (e-MPV) whose second and third-row seats can be folded to create a completely flat load area to expand the 580-litre boot space.

Running on 17-inch alloy wheels paired with 225/55 R17 tyres, the M6 is houses an electric motor powered by the brand's proprietary Blade Battery that produces 310 Nm of torque and, depending on the variant, delivers a NEDC-rated range of up to 530 km on a single charge for the Extended variant and 420 km for the Standard variant. 

Inside, the vehicle is equipped with a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen powered by the BYD Di-Link System that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Rear passengers also have access to multiple charging ports. If that isn't enough the model comes with a Karaoke microphone support feature for added  entertainment with full access to lyrics when the vehicle is stationary - this feature is available as an optional accessory for purchase.

Additionally, the BYD M6 comes equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities and supports NFC Digital Key function.

Standard safety for both variants include: 6 airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ISOFIX child restraint anchorage points, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), the 360° view monitor, rear radars, auto hold, and cruise control.

The extended variant gets additional Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Front and Rear Collision Warning (FCW, RCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Lane Departure Assist (LDA).

That's not to say any semblance of sportiness is loss with the practicality involved - the exterior features the brand's aerodynamic Dragon Face styling that optimizes airflow to go along with four available colours: Crystal White, Ink Stone Blue, Cosmos Black and Harbour Grey.

Price of the BYD M6 Standard variant is from RM109,800, while for the Extended variant starts at RM123,800. 

It comes with an extensive warranty package that includes 6 years or 150,000 kilometers coverage for the vehicle, 8 years or 160,000 kilometers with a State of Health (SOH) above 70% for the battery warranty, and 8 years or 150,000 kilometers for the drive unit. 

Alongside the launch of the M6 is an exclusive early-bird offer for the first 300 bookings of extended variant nationwide to receive a complimentary home charger. 

Additionally, the first 100 customers who book any variant of BYD M6 at the event-exclusive launch at Dataran Karnival Shah Alam will receive a RM800 charging credit.

Besides these launch-specific benefits, BYD is offering a Year-End Sales Campaign for other models that allow customers to take advantage of interest rates as low as 0.88%, a 3-year standard service package, free road tax, a home charger, and a special rebate if they register their vehicle before the end of October 2024.
