BYD Malaysia has officially entered the premium sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment with the arrival of the Sealion 7.

The e-SUV comes in either the Premium and Performance variant with the housed Blade Battery supporting 11kW AC charging (Type 2), 150kW DC fast charging (CCS 2), and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature.

The Premium variant has 230 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. It comes with an electric range of up to 567 km on a single charge.

The Performance variant cuts on the electric range down to 542 km but gains a boost in performance with 390 kW of combined power and 690 Nm of torque to achieve a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds. 

Inside the model are genuine leather-wrapped seats, power-adjustment options for both the driver and front passenger, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Dynaudio 12-speaker system, panoramic glass roof fills the cabin with natural light, and dual-zone automatic air conditioning.

Safety comes in the form of nine airbags (front, front side, rear side, curtain airbags and driver far side), 360° camera, front and rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchorage points.

Advanced driver-assistance technologies (ADAS) features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Detection.

The Premium variant of the Sealion 7 is priced at RM183,800, while the Performance variant is available at RM199,800.

Both variants of the Sealion 7 are available in four colors: Cosmos Black, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Shark Grey.
