DONGFENG Motor Corporation officially enters Malaysia's electric vehicle (EV) consumer sphere with the launch of the Box.

Two variants are available: Box E2 and Box E3 priced RM100,000 and RM113,000 respectively.

Both are available in White, Purple, Green and Blue, with a third option based on the Box E3 with a Floating Cloud White Roof option (two-tone) comes in at RM RM115,000.

Prices are paired to a comprehensive warranty package that includes: an 8-year / 150,000km high-voltage battery warranty and a 5-year / 150,000km vehicle main parts warranty.

Customers who make their bookings early are entitled to an early bird package amounting to more than RM5,000 - this encompasses a portable charging unit worth RM1,088, a complimentary front cabin storage worth RM1,250, and one of three choices of either (i) 1 year charging credit worth RM3,000 (subject to fair usage policy), (ii) home wall charger worth RM3,288 or (iii) service maintenance worth RM3,000.

Known as the Nammi 01 in China, the Box is the first model built on the Dongfeng Quantum Architecture S3 platform.

It has a front-mounted 95 PS/160 Nm electric motor that delivers a top speed of 140 km/h. 

The E2 has a 31.45 kWh battery that can take 3.3 kW AC charging for a 330 km (CLTC range) while the E3 with it’s 42.3 kWh has 6.6 kW AC and 430 km in range.

Both can recharge from 30-80% in 30 minutes on a DC charger.

Adaptive Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), automatic emergency braking, and intelligent cruise control is present though apparently only in the E3 variant. 

Targeted towards urban young people or families it has a body dimension of 4020/1810/1570 mm and a wheelbase of 2663mm.

The vehicle's adopts a through-type LED headlights, contrasting suspended roof, frameless doors and hidden sensor door handles that are rare in its class.

The interior adopts a large area of high-grade leather diamond pattern design, 32-color ambient lighting, and a frameless rearview mirrors.

It is equipped with a one-button lie-flat mode for the main driver, 12.8-inch floating central touch screen that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, mobile phone wireless charging, L2 intelligent driving assistance functions among others.
