PROTON is finally giving the X70 its' first major makeover since the model's launch in 2018 and details have been revealed to coincide with the model's pre-launch booking.

For context this is the second facelift the X70 has undergone with the first in 2020. This time around the changes are slightly more substantial.

Most obvious is the new bolder, larger grille that sports Proton’s Infinite Weave design and songket diamond pins, and slimmer full-LED reflector headlights.

Its' restyled bumper and hood sets the model's updated silhouette design with a tone that's inches towards a more sportier and premium executive look.

The 2025 X70 will be available in four variants (as oppose to the current available six) with all of them housing a 1.5L TGDI engine that is paired to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission and a two-wheel drive (2WD) system.

What is absent from the new lineup is the ageing 1.8L TGDI engine and all-wheel drive (AWD) options.

The powertrain setup delivers a maximum power of 130kW (177PS) @ 5,500RPM with a max torque of 255Nm @ 4,000RPM to deliver a fuel consumption of 7.3L/100km which is said to be a 4% reduction from the 2022 X70.

The IHU’s hardware now comes with dual quad-core processors, 4GB RAM and 32 GB storage. The infotainment touchscreen is powered by the Atlas 2.0 operating system.

Big news for fans is the availability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The catch however is that the model doesn't have the features preloaded at launch and will be available for owners to download via over-the-air (OTA) update.

The 7.0-inch digital meter panel screen gains new redesigned graphics seen in Proton's newer models such of that of the X90 and S70.

Current known available colours for the model includes: Ruby Red, Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey and the new Marine Blue.

According to Proton the 2025 X70, which comes with 360 new parts, took up to 290,000 man hours of research and development (R&D) and has been road tested for up to 4.2 million km.

Price of the model and its' variants have yet to be revealed though we'd venture it is closely in-line with the outgoing model - which for comparison is currently priced at RM98,800 (1.5 TGDI Standard 2WD), RM110,800 (Executive), RM116,800 (Executive AWD), RM123,800 (Premium), RM126,800 (Premium X), and RM128,800 (1.8 TGDI Premium).
