HONDA Malaysia officially enters the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the launch of its e:N1.

The battery electric vehicle (BEV) is powered by a 68.8kWh lithium-ion battery that generates a maximum power of 150kW and a peak torque of 310Nm.

It supports AC charging up to 10 kW with a 10%-80% charge taking approximately six hours, while its DC charging goes up to 78 kW, achieving a 30%-80% charge in about 50 minutes.

Three driving modes are available - Sport, Normal and ECON, and the e:N1 has a driving range of up to 500km (NEDC).

Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Narushi Yazaki said the launch of the model strengthens their xEV lineup and provides Malaysians with more choices to suit their mobility needs, which is in line with the company's 2025 business direction.

"We have been at the forefront of innovation, bringing advanced technologies to Malaysians. This journey began with IMA in 2004, and continued with VTEC Turbo in 2016, i-DCD in 2017, and e:HEV technology in 2020. We strive to draw strength from our history as we continue to power the future.

"Building on this foundation, Honda Malaysia is on the right track in navigating the market with our Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and e:HEV models, which remain highly relevant today. At the same time, we are committed to offering a diverse lineup that caters to evolving customer needs.

"Ensuring a 'Fun-To-Drive' experience is key to all our technological developments, and our new BEV will certainly uphold this tradition. "The introduction of BEVs is not just about creating excitement. It represents a significant step forward that propels us further in our ongoing journey into the age of electrification.

"Our e:N1 introduces the Honda electric driving experience, made possible through the marque's human-centric philosophy. It leverages Honda's technology to deliver fun-to-drive dynamics with smooth and responsive acceleration," he added.

Sleek in design, the e:N1 is headlined by a clean front grille and a new white 'H' badge that symbolises Honda's electrification. Complementing it are LED headlights, LED taillight and 18-inch Dual-Tone Alloy Wheels made just for the BEV.

Cabin is illuminated by blue ambient lighting and houses features such as a wireless charger, a e:N1 custom 10.25-inch TFT driving information display and a 15.1-inch advanced display audio that integrates a three-section touchscreen panel. The top section houses infotainment features, including wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto connectivity and navigation system.

The middle section provides access to vehicle status information and audio controls, while the bottom section features air conditioning settings.

Space inside the e:N1 retains Honda's signature 60:40 split rear seat configuration and a 344 litres of cargo space.  Safety comes complete with Honda Sensing and an e:N1 exclusive Blind Spot Information (BSI) with Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) feature. Only 200 units of the e:N1 will be up for purchase from RM149,900 in either Platinum White Pearl, Aqua Topaz Metallic and Urban Gray Pearl colours.

Price includes an eight-year or 160,000km warranty (whichever comes first) on the electric vehicle battery and electric drive system.

The Honda Insurance Plus (HiP EV) package is also available for the e:N1 which provides additional EV benefits including coverage for damage or injury while using public EV chargers, protection for EV Home wall charger against fire, lightning, theft or natural disasters, coverage for loss or damage to the portable charging cable and personal liability coverage for bodily injury or damage to third-party property arising from the use of the EV home wall charger.

The entire e:N1 purchase process is integrated into Honda Malaysia's online platforms, which include the New Car Pre-Booking portal and the HondaTouch application.

Customers can complete their booking by selecting one of eight authorised Honda BEV dealerships, entering their details, choosing the e:N1, and paying a minimum pre-booking fee. A dedicated and trained brand ambassador will be available to provide assistance and guidance throughout the entire process.

According to Honda Malaysia, two more EV models are set to be introduced into the market down the pipeline.
