HONDA Malaysia has issued a proactive product update that involves approximately 36,000 units of the Civic, Civic Type R, and CR-V.

The update involves the Electric Power Steering (EPS) gearbox, where the worm wheel may swell and reduce grease film thickness and cause an abnormal steering noise or sticky steering.

The models involved includes the Civic year model 2022-2024, Civic Type R year model 2023-2024, and CR-V year model 2024.

"Honda Malaysia apologises for the inconvenience caused to affected customers and reassures that other current production and selling models are not affected in this product update. The company believes this proactive product update is necessary as customer safety is Honda Malaysia’s top priority," the official statement read.

All affected customers will be informed via notification letters, which will include details of the product update. Honda Malaysia urges all customers involved in this update to contact any Honda authorised dealer to make an appointment upon receiving the notification, to have their vehicles inspected and/or repaired if required.

Honda Malaysia will bear the cost of inspection, repair or replacement of the affected parts in this activity. The replacement stock will be available in stages starting from December 2024.

Vehicle owners can obtain information or check their vehicle status on this product update by calling Honda Malaysia’s Toll-Free number at 1-800-88-2020 or log on to productrecall.honda.com.my or by contacting any Honda authorised dealer.
