ISUZU Malaysia is looking to make its popular workhorse model just a tad more affordable.

The new Isuzu D-Max Low-Ride 4x2 MT pick-up truck is targeted towards urban and sub-urban businesses that require easy loading, more space and low running costs to boost their business efficiency.

It shares specifications as the base Isuzu D-Max 1.9-litre Single Cab variant with minor enhancements and will be available exclusively with the 1.9-litre RZ4E-TC engine coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Given its similarities Isuzu Malaysia says the powerplant is just as fuel efficient in achieving the 2,000km record range using just one tank of diesel.

Isuzu Malaysia chief executive officer Shunsuke Okazoe said the new variant is uncomplicated yet robust in design, has a versatile configuration and efficient powertrain to ensure that customers will enjoy one of the lowest ownership costs of any pick-up truck in the market.

“Isuzu continues to offer vehicles that bring good value and low running costs to its owners as a world leader in the manufacture of commercial vehicles. The new Isuzu D-Max Low-Ride is no exception,” he added.

The five-seater truck with a load deck that is 78 cm above ground comes with fabric seats, a single-DIN Bluetooth-ready entertainment system, tilt and telescopic adjustment for the steering column, central locking and electronically-adjustable door mirrors. 

Safety features it comes with includes Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC). 

It also features two airbags, Brake Override System (BOS), Emergency Stop Signals, Follow-Me Home lights and reverse sensors. The truck is deemed one of the safest in its class while carrying a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

Available exclusively in Splash White at all authorized Isuzu dealers nationwide, the on-the-road without insurance price of the Isuzu D-Max Low-Ride starts from RM92,199.20 (Peninsular Malaysia), RM94,279.60 (Sabah) and RM 94,170.30 (Sarawak).

Price is inclusive of a 5-year or 150,000km warranty with deliveries expected to begin in February.
