EVOLVELECTRIC Motors Sdn Bhd's (Evolvelectric Motors) officially introduces the nation's first 4X4 battery electric vehicle (BEV) pickup truck.

As one of two available powertrain options to the JAC T9, the BEV variant is powered by an 88 kWh LFP battery pack that is sourced from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL).

It has an estimated range of 340km (WLTP) on a full charge, with its electric vehicle (EV) dual-motor setup delivers a total power output of 220kW alongside a total peak torque of 516Nm and a top speed of 140km/h. 

DC fast charging is at 88kW, allowing the battery to go 15%-80% in 45 minutes. AC charging takes approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes for the battery to go from 15%-100%.

Those who prefer a more traditional 4x4 pickup truck setup have the option for a diesel powertrain.

Powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, the variant is paired to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver 125kW and 410Nm from 1,500rpm to 2,500rpm to the rear wheels.

Notably, the T9 2.0L diesel variant is the only pickup truck in Malaysia to achieve a 5-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) safety rating under the latest scoring methodology. 

Both variants feature a 10.4-inch touch screen Infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch instrument cluster, 64-colour ambient light and music rhythm lighting, 50W wireless charging, USB Type-C and 220V multi-power socket, armrest with cooling air vent, 360-degree high-definition camera, intelligent electronic shift with 4 modes (Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow); and level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System.

Evolvelectric Motors chief executive officer Lau Yit Mun said the T9’s versatility and accessibility make it an ideal choice for all Malaysians drivers.

To empower Malaysians and to celebrate the successful launch of the T9, Evolvelectric Motors is maintaining the introductory price of the T9 until the end of the year.

The T9 BEV variant is priced at RM199,888 (Peninsula Malaysia) on-the-road without insurance. It comes with 6 years or 200,000km warranty for the battery, whichever comes first.

On the other hand the T9 Diesel variant comes in at RM119,888 (Peninsula Malaysia) on-the-road without insurance. It is packaged with an 8-year or unlimited mileage engine warranty for the first owner, whichever comes first, subject to the applicable service policy. It also comes with 5 years or unlimited mileage warranty, whichever comes first.

The JAC T9 will be on display at 1Utama, ground floor of Highstreet (New Wing) from March 6 until 9, 2025. 

In conjunction with the launch of the T9, Evolvelectric Motors is running a test drive contest where participants can stand a chance to win a free trip to Perth. 

The contest runs until May 31, 2025, and participants can enter by either visiting a roadshow location for a test drive or booking a test drive through Evolvelectric Motors’ Facebook page.

The contest winner will win a 4D3N stay in Perth with roundtrip airfare for a family of four including two adults and two children under 12 years of age, complimentary JAC T9 rental car for the entire duration of the trip and an accommodation for three nights at a selected hotel.
