JAECOO Malaysia's soon-to-be launched fourth model is out on the road for public viewing and has been given a tentative price.

The D-segment Jaecoo J8 premium off-road sports utility vehicle (SUV) will come in two variants with estimated pricing to start from RM195,000.

Both are powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, direct-injection,inline-4-cylinder engine capable of producing 183kW and 385Nm of torque. The setup is complete with an 8-speed Automatic Transmission, twin exhaust pipes, and a 65L fuel tank capacity.

A 12.3-inch media display and a 540-degree panoramic camera inside the cabin are shared between the two. Where they differ is the varying premium features exclusive to each variant. 

The J8 Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) features a five-seater configuration, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, six airbags, ambient lighting and faux leather upholstery. 

Meanwhile, the J8 All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant is a six-seater that comes with a 14-speaker Sony sound system with headrest speakers, 10 airbags, power doors, and an automatic fragrance system. 

At least for the AWD option, the SUV comes equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) for keyless entry, a built-in digital video recorder (DVR), and the front and second row seats are electric powered with an additional massage feature and curtain shades. The entire cabin is fitted with genuine leather upholstery and suede panel trimmings. 

The AWD variant, with a wading depth of 450mm, also houses the return of Jaecoo’s Continuous Damping Control (CDC) technology integrated into its suspension system.

Both share the same dimensions with a wheelbase of 2.82, its height at 1.71m, 1.93m in width, and 4.82m in length. 

J8 2WD and AWD have a boot capacity of 738L and 200L, respectively. 

Jaecoo Malaysia vice president Emily Lek said the new model continues to stay true to the brand's ‘From Classic, Beyond Classic’ essence.

“We are beyond excited to give Malaysia a preview of the Jaecoo J8 premium off-road sports utility vehicle (SUV). In keeping with our aim to deliver greater options to the Malaysian market, the J8 reinforces our commitment to delivering the perfect blend of style, premium comfort, and high-level performance, in an SUV. 

"More importantly, the J8 is tailored to the uniqueness of the market here in Malaysia,” she added.

The 2WD variant estimated to be in the vicinity of RM195,000is available in single-tone colour options, comprising Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Olive Grey. 

On the other hand, the AWD variant is given an estimated price around RM220,000 and is available in dual tones for the same colour options as the 2WD variant. 

First showcased locally at the Malaysia Auto Show 2024, the Jaecoo J8 Preview Roadshow runs from 27 March to 31 March at the 1Utama Shopping Centre (GF Luxe). The roadshow will also showcase the brand's Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV) technology for the public to get to know better.

The roadshow will then make its way to Queensbay Mall in Penang from 9 April to 13 April, and thereafter the Malaysian Autoshow from 8 May to 15 May.
