JuiceUp introduces open payment system for EV charging
JUICEUP is one step towards transforming Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for the better.
Leveraging on the company's expertise as a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) provider that specialises in EV charging infrastructure management for Charge Point Operators (CPOs), the company unveiled the country's first-of-its-kind open payment solution system.

To advance the accessibility and convenience of EV charging nationwide the system offers a universal solution that supports a variety of widely accepted payment methods.
This simplifies the experience by enabling users to pay and charge their EVs at any charging networks without the need for specific applications or subscriptions.
"Our easy, fast and frictionless 'Tap and Juice-up' open payment solution system is currently fully operational in key cities and we anticipate to cover 80% of the charging networks across Malaysia by 2025.

“It is crucial that our charging-payment infrastructures and consistent user experience keep pace with the growing demands as more car manufacturers introduce affordable EVs. We believe that innovation is a core driving force to bridge this gap and working closely with stakeholders in the EV ecosystem is key to accelerating this vision into reality," said JuiceUP chief executive officer Benson Lim.
The fully integrated end-to-end EV charging management cloud solution with contactless payment capabilities was made possible through the strategic partnership with EV, finance and payment solutions, renewable energy and IOT industry leaders.
They include companies such as Visa, CIMB, Bank Islam, Bank Muamalat, PaidChain, CUCUK, JusEV, TNB Electron, EVPower, Gading Kencana, Malakoff, TELD, VSD Automation, Sinexcel, Reactive Energy and My Evolution.
"EV are gaining popularity in Malaysia, and drivers need quick and easy charging and payment options. Visa is a world leader in digital payments, supporting green transportation growth with our innovative solutions," said Visa Southeast Asia merchant sales and acquiring head Brandon Louie.

"We offer a fast, convenient, and secure way for EV drivers to pay by just simply tapping their debit or credit card. We are excited to partner with JuiceUP to enhance the payment experience for EV drivers in Malaysia, aligning with our mission to connect the world through the most reliable and secure payment network," Brandon added.
Deputy prime minister and Energy Transition and Water Transformation minister Datuk Sri Haji Fadillah, who was in attendence of the system's launch, said that he was confident JuiceUP can be a relevant player in the electric mobility ecosystem that can significantly support the government's agenda of nationwide EV adoption and driving Malaysia’s energy transition.
“It is my sincere hope to see all stakeholders, including industry leaders, financial institutions, renewable energy experts and business owners in coming together and build an enabling environment for the EV sector where we can leverage on each other’s expertise to create a strong and interconnected experience that continuously meets the growing demands of EV users," he added.
