SAIC Motor Malaysia has big plans for 2025 and they're on display at the 10th Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2024).

Visitors to the MG show floor will be greeted with three yet-to-be locally announced models that is only expected to be launched next year.

MG7

The sole internal combustion engine (ICE) model is the Guinness World Records holder MG7.

Holding the 'Greatest altitude change by a petrol powered car' record, the fastback coupe sedan achieved 5,978.17 m (19,613ft 5in) by Sun Zibo and team driving a MG7 car.

Organised by SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company's (all China) MG brand, the attempt was made at the Aiding Lake (- 148.379 m) on Feb 25, 2023, and ended at the Laqiongla Mountains (5,829.788 m), Tibet Autonomous Region, China on March 6, 2023.

The model is equipped with a 2.0L Turbo engine that's paired to a 9-speed auto transmission for a performance of 261PS maximum power and 405Nm of maximum torque.

It has a 2,778mm wheelbase, is 1,447mm in height, a width of 1,889mm, and 4,884mm long.

Accompanying the fastback coupe design on the exterior is an Adaptive Electric Spoiler, frameless doors, 19-inch alloy wheels, Variable Sport Exhaust System, LED rear light strip and red brake caliper.
 
The car's cabin features a sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Bose sound system, wireless charger, bucket leather adjustable seats (6-way for driver, 4-way for passenger), 360-degree camera with sensor, and panoramic sunroof.

Its MG Pilot suite and safety systems comes with: Front Collision Warning and Emergency Braking (with pedestrian and bicycle detection), Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Traction Control, Cornering Brake Controls and 6 SRS airbags.

Launched in China at the end of March 2023, the current price of the MG7 starts from RMB119,800 – RMB169,800 (RM74,200 - RM104,000)

The MG7 was l and is currently priced between 125,900 and 145,900 yuan (about RM77k and RM89k). It is also available in Vietnam (another left-hand drive market) where it ranges from VND738 million to 1.018 billion (RM129k to RM178k). Looking forward to this one coming our way?

MG3 Hybrid+

Also known as the MG3 HEV (hybrid electric vehicle), the MG3 Hybrid+ has the potential to be the most affordable hybrid model in Malaysia's current market.

Revealed globally in March earlier this year, the B-segment hatchback was given an initial price tag between THB559,900-THB599,900 (RM73,399-RM78,649) for the first 1,000 units in Thailand, after which prices was raised to THB579,900 - THB619,900 (RM76,100 - RM81,300).

At its heart is a 1.5L DOHC,16 valve DVVT engine the powertrain that is paired to a 3-speed Hybrid Transmission to deliver a combined max power of 194PS and a max torque of 313Nm.

Major highlights of the model includes its 26.2 km/l fuel efficiency, 3 Energy Regeneration modes and a cargo capacity of 983L with the rear seats folded down.

Sporting a Dynamic Front Face with Full Strength Hood, the exterior of the model is complete with hunting-eyes headlamp, wide-open grille, a smooth spoiler and 16-inch Atlas alloy wheels. 
 
Cabin comes equipped with Dual Floating Screens (7-inch Digital Multi-Function Display and a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment) that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charging, leather upholstery, front adjustable seats (6-way for driver, 4-way for passenger), 60:40 foldable rear seats, heated front seats and steering wheel, MG iSmart phone connectivity and 360-degree camera with sensors.

MG Pilot and safety system suite is complete with: Front Collision Warning and Emergency Braking (with pedestrian and bicycle detection), Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Traction Control, Cornering Brake Controls and 6 SRS airbags.

The model has a height of 1,502mm, 1,797mm in width and is 4,113mm long. Its wheelbase is 2,570mm.

MG ZS Hybrid+

Last of the three models and the second hybrid of the lot is the MG ZS Hybrid+ or MG ZS HEV.

A core point of the B-segment SUV is a focus on space matched with a hybrid powertrain with also 3 Energy Regeneration modes. 

Length of the model is 4,430mm, with a width of 1,818mm and height of 1,635mm. The model's wheelbase is 2,610mm. 

Equipment in the cabin includes a 7-inch Digital Multi-Function Display, a 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto support, wireless charging, leather upholstery, 6-way adjustable seat for the driver, 60:40 foldable rear seats, 6 speakers audio system, MG iSmart phone connectivity and 360-degree camera with sensors.

Much like the other two models the ZS Hybrid+'s MG Pilot and safety system come with: Front Collision Warning and Emergency Braking (with pedestrian and bicycle detection), Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Traction Control, Cornering Brake Controls and 6 SRS airbags.

Underneath the hood 1.5L DOHC,16 valve engine mated to a DVVT 3-speed Hybrid Transmission for a combined max power output of 197PS and max combined torque of 465 Nm.

The exterior's design is shaped by its Dynamic Front Face with Full Strength Hood, Hunter-eyes headlamp with connecting DRL, wide-open grille, a smooth spoiler and 18-inch Sabre alloy wheels.

Price of the model in the United Kingdom starts from around £21,995 (RM124,200) though we can expect to see adjustments to be made once it officially launches here.
