WARISAN Tan Chong Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd's (WTCA) first electric sedan is officially in the market.

The Aion ES was launched during the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS 2024) to a highly competitive price of RM106,800. 

Price comes with a comprehensive warranty and after-sales package that includes: 
- 8 Years/160,000 KM base vehicle warranty 
- 8 Years/200,000 KM EV battery, Drive Motor and Electric Control warranty 
- In conjunction with its official launch, the buyers will be getting a complementary 7kW Home Wallbox Charger (worth RM3,500). 

“We are confident that with the launch of the all-new Aion ES, together with the specification and package that we have put together will meet the expectation of the public and for those seeking the best value deal,” Warisan TC Holdings Bhd chief executive officer Tan Keng Meng. 

The Aion ES is the second electric vehicle (EV) of the GAC Aion brand to debut locally with the first being the Aion Y Plus compact crossover that was launched in May this year.

Built on the latest Aion Electric Platform (AEP) 2.0 which is a dedicated EV platform, the electric sedan houses GAC’s 55.2 kWh Magazine Battery 2.0. 

This lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type battery is capable at delivering up to 442km (NEDC) of driving range with each full charge. Charging is rated at 6.6 KW AC (Type 2) and up to 60 kW DC fast-charging (CCS2). 

Its front-mounted e-motor that drives the front wheels (FWD) is rated at 100 kW (136 PS) and 225 Nm, while offering up to three selectable driving modes in addition to an ‘i-Pedal’ single-pedal driving function.

Exterior key design touches include the Flowing Arc LED headlights, Laser Blade LED taillights, electric open tailgate, stylish 17-inch alluminium alloy wheels design, and 450 litre of boot space. 

All of the seats are crafted from premium leatherette while the interior trim is of soft-touch materials. Key highlights include a rotary gearknob, auto-dimming interior rear view mirror, six-way driver seat adjustment, 3.5-inch LCD instrument cluster, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control plus built-in PM2.5 air filter, and a 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment offering Apple CarPlay function. 

Standard safety features includes anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill-Hold Control (HHC), Electric Parking Braking (EPB) with Autohold function and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

To further bolster GAC Aion's sales and the after-sales infrastructure, WTCA announced it has established a network of 21 new showrooms and service centres nationwide over the last 12 months, with more set to become operational in future. 

The Aion ES which comes in three exterior colour options - Pure White, Glamour Black and Holographic Silver - is on display at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from Dec 5-11.
