GAC Motor Malaysia's 7-seater M8 is now available for booking and is predicted to be officially launched really soon.

Showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 in MAEPS, Serdang, the model is poised to be the nation’s first luxury plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

Two variants are said to be available - Premium and Premium Luxury, which will run on a 2.0L turbo engine (190PS / 330Nm) with a 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and an electric motor (182PS / 300Nm) to deliver a combined output at 373PS / 630Nm - It has a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.8 seconds.

 

Its 25.57kWh lithium-ion battery pack has a pure electric range of 106km (WLTP) while the M8 can be fully charged in just 30 minutes using DC fast charging. 

The official fuel consumption data is 6.05L/100km, and it can travel 1,032km when fully fueled and fully charged.

The exterior is equipped with a vertical chrome grille and wing-shaped LED headlights, which makes it look like a lion. The rear of the car is composed of a horizontal through-type light strip and a vertical split light.

Cabin is at present known to be equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central control screen, a 16-speaker Yamaha audio system, a 15.6-inch ceiling-mounted entertainment audio-visual screen, second-row independent executive chairs (with leg rests, massage, ventilation and heating functions), and a panoramic sunroof.

Dimension-wise the model has a 3,070mm wheelbase and has a length of 5,212mm, is 1,893mm in width, and 1,823mm tall.

Safety in the M8 is highlighted by a semi-automatic driving assistance system, including automatic braking assistance, blind spot detection, a 360-degree panoramic camera system, and full-speed automatic following.

The M8 is expected to be priced from RM333,000, with full specifications to be announced closer to its market launch. Pricing will include a standard 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, whichever comes first. 

Additionally, its magazine battery, drive motor and electric control units are covered under a separate 8-year or 150,000 km warranty.

Customers who place bookings during the pre-sales period will also enjoy two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance and receive a portable charging cable at a combined value of RM3,800.
