IT looks like Pro-Net's next big machine since the smart #3 will soon be making its way onto the roads.
First seen at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the smart #5 is now on display at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) in MAEPS, Serdang.
Positioned to enter the premium mid-size electric sports utility vehicle (e-SUV) segment, the smart #5 unlike its #1 and #3 siblings is designed for rugged all-terrain exploration and smart living.

Pro-Net chief executive officer Zhang Qiang said the #5's entry also marks the next chapter in smart’s electric journey and not simply just the introduction of a new model.
“the smart #5 represents a bold evolution of what an electric SUV can be. It brings together premium design, intelligent technology and a sense of adventure, all crafted for Malaysians who want more from their driving experience," he added.
The smart #5 continues the brand’s latest design evolution by also featuring signature elements like a panoramic halo roof and frameless doors.

With off-road being a major theme of the model its design is further defined by its bold, upright stance and boxy-shaped silhouette, a short front as well as rear overhangs that are key traits of smart’s design DNA.
There are also the dual-tone side mirrors, wheels with a floating smart logo, and a playful ‘easter egg’ detailing on the exterior.
Pushing further into the theme is a built-in 3.3kW V2L outlet and multiple off-road driving modes: Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, and Adaptive
Dimension-wise the model has a 2,900mm wheelbase and is 4,695mm in length.

In contrast the cabin is all about comfort and convenience, featuring a one-button Comfort Mode that adjusts the co-driver and rear seat for relaxation, accents of oak wood, ambient lighting with 256 colour options, and the ability to fold the rear seats flat into a king-size in-car suite mode.
The 25.6-inch AR-HUD and dual 13-inch AMOLED displays that runs on the Unreal Engine smart OS is powered by the AMD V2000 chip.
Further defining the cockpit is the AI-powered avatar Leo and a 20-speaker Sennheiser Signature sound system.
In terms of practicality the #5 has 1,530 litres of rear storage, a 72-litre frunk, and 34 smart compartments.

At the heart of the model is a state-of-the-art EV architecture featuring a 100kWh battery capable of delivering up to 590 km of range (WLTP).
It has a 800V fast-charging system that allows the battery to charge from 10-80 percent in 15 minutes.
No further details have been released at the time of this write up but se can expect the smart #5 to be officially launched some time later this year.
