MERCEDES-Benz Malaysia introduced its next luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) hot off the recent launch of its 2024 E-Class range.

Keeping up with the hybrid theme, the locally assembled (locally in Pekan, Pahang, CKD) GLC 350 e 4Matic combines a 1,999 cc four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor rated at 100 kW and a torque of 440 Nm.

Powering the electric motor is a high-voltage (HV) 25.4 kWh battery. The pairing with the petrol engine which delivers an output of 150 kW (204 hp) at 6,100 rpm and a torque of 320 Nm from 2,000-4,000 rpm.

This results in a combined system output of 230 kW (313 hp) and a peak torque of 550 Nm to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 218 km/h. 

Charging for the model is supported with a standard-fit 11 kW charger for three-phase charging and an included mode 2 charging cable.

Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia marketing and sales vice president Nadia Trimmel said the new GLC 350 e 4Matic offers up to 131 km of electric range (WLTP), allowing drivers to enjoy smooth and quiet city journeys while having the power and versatility for longer distances when needed.

It’s the true bridge to the future of mobility, offering the convenience and performance our customers expect, with enhanced efficiency at every turn,” she added.

While the equipment level follows the offering of previous variants of the GLC SUV offered in the Malaysian market, the new GLC 350 e 4Matic now offers the Driving Assistance Package Plus. 

This encompassed features such as Active Distance Assist Distronic with extended automatic restart function on motorways, Active Stop-and-Go Assist, and Active Steering Assist with hands-off warning. Additionally, there's the Parking Package with a 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist with Parktronic.

Enhanced safety comprises of Active Brake Assist with vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian detection, Cross-traffic function, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and Active Blind Spot Assist.

Sporting the AMG Line design language the SUV has an AMG front apron with chrome trim, a rear apron with a diffuser look, a Panoramic sliding sunroof, and 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels. 

The Digital Light system and signature Mercedes-Benz pattern grille complete the vehicle's exterior. The newly designed rear features chrome accents, simulated underguard, and 3D rear lights connected by a glossy black trim.

Inside is an AMG Line interior that combines black Artico man-made leather upholstery, microcut microfiber, AMG sports pedals, and a multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather with a distinctive flattened bottom section. Luggage capacity is at 490 litres. 

The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system features MBUX Navigation Premium and Augmented Reality for enhanced route guidance. The Burmester 3D surround sound system is supported by 15 high-performance speakers.

Retail price of the GLC 350 e 4Matic is RM 398,888 (for Peninsular Malaysia) on the road without Insurance with 10% Sales Tax.
