MERCEDES-Benz Malaysia’s first all-electric Mercedes-Maybach is officially in Malaysia.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 sports utility vehicle (SUV) houses a 118 kWh high-voltage (HV) battery that delivers a WLTP-rated 560-608km electric range.

The battery has an output of 484 kW (658hp) and 950Nm of torque that translates to a top speed of 210 km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.4 seconds.

Electric consumption is rated at 23.7 – 21.7 kWh/100km, while DC charging (200kW) time from 10-80% is 31 minutes. AC charging (22kW) time takes 6 hours and 15 minutes.

Kerb weight and payload are 3.075 kg and 425 kg, respectively.

Running on exclusive 21-inch Maybach multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, the front of the model is characterised by the brand-typical black panel with vertical, chrome-plated trim strips in a three-dimensional depth look. The large black panel is smooth and closed for the first time.

Chrome-plated filigree slats can be found on the air intake of the bumper, while specific features such as bold chrome surrounds on the side windows and the chrome-plated B-pillar trim can be seen when viewed from the side.

Rear lights strip come in a two-part helix, with chrome trim elements are found on the tailgate, on the rear apron and the spoiler lip, as well as the Maybach lettering.

The special appearance of the top-end luxury SUV also includes the brand-typical two-tone paintwork with a filigree pinstripe. It is applied by hand and is available in five colour combinations: high-tech silver/obsidian black, high-tech silver/nautical blue, obsidian black/selenite grey, obsidian black/kalahari gold, and velvet brown/onyx black.

Moving on to the interior, a highlight at the front is the MBUX Hyperscreen with “zero layer” and Mercedes-Maybach specific start-up animations on all three displays. 

The surrounds for the round instruments are in rose gold, which is typical of the brand.

Rear passengers have access to a range of infotainment and comfort features through the two 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats.

Finishing and parts come in a combination of luxury with sustainability with a number of parts and components made from resource-saving materials. 

The vehicle comes with MANUFAKTUR brown open-pore walnut wood trim, paired with the centre console in MANUFAKTUR open-pore brown walnut wood. 

Other optional natural woods are available as trim parts: MANUFAKTUR brown open-pore birch wood as well as MANUFAKTUR piano lacquer black flowing lines. 

Its exclusive Nappa leather comes in sustainably processed warm colours of espresso brown/balao brown pearl. A pairing of Macchiato beige/bronze brown pearl or crystal white/silver grey pearl is available as an option. 

Much like the front seats the rear executive seats are equipped with ventilation, massage function, and neck and shoulder heating. A calf massage feature is also present.

The rear also gets four fast-charging USB-C ports as with wireless charging system for mobile devices, two folding tables, and a centre console that houses a refrigerated compartment with space for champagne bottles and bespoke flute holders. 

Ambient Lighting runs throughout the entire vehicle, right up to the roof liner and behind the rear seats. Additionally, the EQS 680 contains Active Ambient Lighting with 253 individually controllable LEDs and 64 individually selectable colours. 

Its 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system features Dolby Atmos.

Adding to the drive experience is the standard Airmatic air suspension with continuously adjustable damping ADS+.

The vehicle’s height level can be raised by up to 25mm to increase its ground clearance. Rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up 10 degrees reduces turning circles by almost 2 meters.

It has a special Maybach drive programme in place of the classic Comfort programme which is designed entirely for maximum driving comfort for the rear passengers. Other selectable driving programmes through Dynamic Select include Eco, Sport, Offroad, and Individual.

The vehicle is also equipped with Driving Assistance Package Plus which includes among other things, Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Steering Assist, and Active Blind Spot Assist.

Those who want an overall bolder look can opt for the optional Night Series package.

It has dark chrome elements and surfaces with each headlight adorned with a Maybach emblem in rose gold and dark chrome refinements. 

Darkened Maybach pinstripes enhance the grille panel, while a dark chrome-plated pattern of the Maybach emblem refines the air intake inserts in the front bumper. 

The side windows feature black edging in 3D design. The running boards are finished in black, sporting a Maybach emblem in dark chrome. The exclusive 21-inch 7-spoke light-alloy wheels are styled with high-quality inserts which include a Maybach pattern. 

The Night Series package is available in conjunction with the exterior colours of obsidian black, MANUFAKTUR diamond white bright, and the exclusive two-tone paint finish obsidian black/mojave silver.
