LOVE the MINI Cooper S but ever wondered if it could do with more practicality? Well ponder no more.

Building upon the 3-Door design, the MINI Cooper S 5-Door has an extended wheelbase, two additional doors and increased luggage capacity.

We're looking at more cabin space from its longer wheelbase (+72mm), extended length (+160mm) and easier access to the rear seats.

Otherwise the car shares virtually similar features both in equipment and design.

The iconic round headlights is present fitted with high beam assistance, and an octagonal grille with a decorative black frame. 

There's also the contrasting roof and mirror caps, clamshell bonnet, 18-inch slide spoke 2-tone alloy wheels, triangular LED taillights with three selectable light signatures, classic bee-sting antenna and the horizontal black handle.

Cabin makes heavy use of sustainable materials with the dashboard and door trims finished with a two-tone knitted fabric made from recycled polyester. 

Seats are upholstered in Vescin which is a high-quality vegan leather, with perforated houndstooth patterns and contrasting blue textile inserts.

Filling up the interior is a sport steering wheel, MINI head-up display, Harman Kardon Surround Sound system, a 240-mm OLED touchscreen powered by the MINI Operating System 9, and ambient lighting projected behind the display.

The toggle bar beneath the display centralises vehicle controls by housing access to functions like the parking brake, Start/Stop key, and Experience Modes.

Other standard features are the comfort access system, the interior and exterior mirror package, the interior rear-view mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function and the child ISOFIX attachment.

At the heart is a 2.0 litre TwinPower turbocharged petrol engine that combines direct and port fuel injection at 350 bar pressure, along with an advanced cooling and exhaust system.

It is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive system to deliver 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. This results in a century sprint of 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 242 km/h.

Driving performance is further bolstered by the standard Servotronic steering and MINI Experience Modes which include the Go-Kart mode.

Advanced safety features comes in the form of Lane Change and Departure Warnings to Front Collision and Rear Crossing Traffic Warnings, while advance driving assist include the likes of Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Control Assistant, Speed Limit Assist, Parking Assistant Plus and reversing assistance through features like Remote 3D View and Reversing Assistant up to 50m.

Estimated pricing of the MINI Cooper S 5-Door is RM 293,000 and is available in classic shades like Chili Red and Nanuq White, and exclusive colours such as Icy Sunshine Blue and Legend Grey.
