Kia
KIA is set to introduce the 2024 Sportage at the upcoming 10th Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2024).
Featuring a refreshed design exterior and more modern interior, the model will be the company's first Completely Knocked Down (CKD) C-segment sports utility vehicle (SUV) to be added to Kia Malaysia's lineup.
It'll bring with it new technologies and safety options. Most notable is the two powertrain options.
First up is the 2.0L Smartstream petrol engine that's paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission to deliver a performance of 156hp at 6,200rpm and 192Nm torque.
The other is a 1.6L turbo Gamma II petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. This setup produces 177hp at 5,500rpm and 256Nm of torque.
Inside the cabin houses a 12.3-inch digital instrumental cluster and a high-resolution infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration. Selected trim also offer ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control and Harman Kardon premum audio system.
Safety suite, among others, comprises of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-spot Collision Avoidance (BCA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance (RCCA).
According to local Kia distributor Dinamikjaya Motors (DJM), the current Sportage was decided upon instead of its latest form because the latter is currently only available exclusively in Korea and will only take at least two years before it reaches Malaysian shores.
By then it is also anticipated the model, in its latest facelift, will undergo a price hike in line with the global market.
Price of the upcoming 2024 Sportage has yet to be unveiled though DJM says it'll be priced very competitively - inclusive of a 5-year free service maintenance and 5-year free warranty.
KLIMS 2024 will be held from Dec 5-11 this year at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC),
