PROTON has allocated a total of RM250,000 to those affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire incident.
This is part of the national automotive's comprehensive support initiative for the residents and victims of the incident that was triggered by a gas pipeline rupture on the morning of April 1, 2025.
The sum is allocated to those affected by the incident including those sheltered at different temporary evacuation centres (PPS) such as at Dewan Masjid Putra Heights and Subang Jaya City Council’s multi-purpose hall, Dewan Camelia.

Proton in a statement says it is aware that many affected residents are expressing that the financial aid they are receiving is not enough and therefore hopes this latest contribution will help to alleviate some of the burden they faced.
This initiative comes in response to the urgent needs of the community following the government’s announcement of financial aid for affected residents.
“The devastation caused by the fire in Putra Harmoni is deeply concerning, and we are committed to providing meaningful support to the affected community. We hope that this financial aid will provide some relief to those who are suffering,” said Proton chief executive officer Li Chunrong.

Additionally, six Proton cars service centres in the vicinity have been designated to offer free, comprehensive assessments of all Proton vehicles affected by the fire.
The centres and their respective B&P managers are as follows:
1. AAPICO MOTORS SDN BHD: Queenie Know - 010-2638411
2. SAG WIRA SDN BHD: Kenny - 019-2733366

5. REGAL MOTORS HOLDING SDN BHD: Wong - 012-6118318

Personnel at these locations will then assist with insurance claims of those affected based on the severity of the damaged vehicles.
This service aims to accurately determine the extent of damage and provide owners with clear pathways for repair and restoration, whether the affected Proton cars are parked at ground zero or were moved out during the incident.
Proton states that they hope to offer comprehensive service and insurance claim assistance to ensure the affected cars are taken care of and that the owners’ benefits are protected.

Citing police chief assistant commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat according to media reports, the incident engulfed a 500-meter stretch that caused extensive damage to 235 premises, with 87 homes completely destroyed and 148 damaged.
Additionally, 399 vehicles were affected with 225 of them by direct fire damage and 174 by heat damage.
