Puspakom makes tax identification number mandatory starting July 25

CUSTOMERS are required to prepare and provide a tax identification number (TIN) for all Puspakom-related dealings starting July 25.

These includes all forms of vehicle inspection at Puspakom branches, as well as payment transactions online via MyPuspakom.

Essentially the number assigned by LHDN for tax identification, the requirement is in addition to individual customers providing their MyKad (IC) number while corporate clients need to provide their company registration number and Sales and Services Tax (SST) number.

All customers are advised to prepare their TIN before making appointments at www.mypuspakom.com.my to ensure seamless processing of transactions by Puspakom and LHDN.

The new requirement is said to be in line with the Inland Revenue Board’s (LHDN) use of the electronic invoicing (e-Invoice) system.

According to reports the step aims to streamline and enhance the national taxation system while promoting transparency in financial and tax matters.

Thus, the e-Invoice system will a more accurate compliance risk assessments in addition to addressing revenue leakage.

First phase of the e-Invoice is said to take effect come Aug 1.
