SAIC Motor Malaysia Sdn Bhd is celebrating a century of the MG brand with the unveiling of its two upcoming models.

MG5

The single variant MG5 sedan is equipped with automatic LED headlights with DRL and 17-inch Tomahawk allow wheels. It is 4,675mm in length, 1,842mm in width and 2,680mm wheelbase making it the longest and widest B-segment sedan to date.

Inside is a fully digital 7-inch LCD virtual cockpit, a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system and a three-spoke leather steering wheel with integrated controls.

Under the hood is a 1.5L petrol engine paired to an 8-speed iCVT automatic transmission that has undergone 2.35 million km of durability testing to deliver 114PS and 150Nm of torque.

It is equipped with MG Pilot driver assist safety system such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot detection, Rear Warning Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Standard is Electronic Stability Program, Anti-Lock Brake system (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction and Cornering Brake controls. and 6 SRS airbags.

The model is available in Nuclear Yellow, Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Black Pearl and Camden Grey.

MG HS SUV

Available in two variants, the MG HS sports utility vehicle (SUV) is powered by a 1.5 turbocharged petrol engine and a 7-speed Twin Clutch transmission to deliver 162PS and 250Nm of torque. The pairing is designed with a lifespan of 320,000km.

Highlight features includes bi-functional LED headlights, a dual-exhaust outlet bumper, LED taillights, 18-inch diamond cut wheels and panoramic roof.

Interior is equipped with sports seats for front driver and passenger, 64-theme ambient light and Super Sports Mode that enhances the SUV's performance by increasing throttle response, shifts at higher RPM and more precise and sturdy steering.

At the centre is a 12.3-inch virtual cluster display with 4 themes and a 10.1-inch high resolution infotainment display with 360-degree camera. It is Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatible and MG iSmart phone connectivity is present which allows for Bluetooth key function and turning on the air-conditioning via the user's mobile phone.

At the rear is the power tailgate and cargo capacity of 463L to 1,287L with the rear seats folded down.

Safety includes 6 SRS airbags and a suite of MG Pilot advance driver assist system (ADAS) that includes Front Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assistance, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Door Opening Warning.

It is available in Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Black Pearl and Camden Grey colours.

Prices have yet to be revealed though it is hinted that the MG5 with be priced below RM100,000 and the MG HS SUV is estimated around RM130,000 for the Standard variant and RM150,000 for the Lux.
 
Both models come with a comprehensive warranty package that includes 5 years with Unlimited Mileage Warranty (whichever comes first) on the vehicle, and 7 years with Unlimited Mileage Warranty (whichever comes first) on the powertrain (engine and transmission).
