Stellantis Malaysia has officially announced the commencement of operations and revealed plans to launch the all-new Peugeot 408 in the second quarter of this year, as well as the locally assembled Peugeot LANDTREK pickup truck.

Stellantis Malaysia now steps into the position of the brand principal, succeeding Bermaz Auto, the former distributor for the PEUGEOT brand in Malaysia.

“We thank Bermaz Auto for their efforts as the custodians of the PEUGEOT brand in Malaysia since December 2020. With the establishment of Stellantis Malaysia, we are committed to continuing the growth of PEUGEOT and the prospects of bringing in a wider range of vehicles from other brands under the Stellantis portfolio whilst focusing on enhancing the lives of our customers through our products and services. We will start with a focus on PEUGEOT, which is a dynamic and innovative brand that possesses an Alluring line-up that we are very excited about,” said Jamie Francis Morais, Managing Director of Stellantis Malaysia.

Stellantis plans to optimize its Gurun, Kedah plant as a regional manufacturing hub with an investment exceeding RM2 billion (€400 million). The introduction of the STLA Medium platform will enable the production of multi-energy vehicles for the local market and ASEAN region, including vehicles from Stellantis brands like Jeep and Citroën.

Beyond the PEUGEOT brand, Stellantis unveiled its potential future vehicle lineup for Stellantis Malaysia during Investor Day. This includes the anticipated launch of the all-new PEUGEOT 408 in Q2 2024 and the locally-assembled PEUGEOT LANDTREK.

Other showcased vehicles from Stellantis brands include the Citroën C3 Aircross, Alfa Romeo Tonale MHEV, and Jeep Wrangler.
