VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is celebrating five decades of the Golf with an exclusive GTI Edition 50.

This edition of the hot hatch is decked with exclusive finishing touches and a suite of accessories that includes an Oettinger body kit, new rims, black side mirror caps, exclusive Edition 50 emblems, and sporty side decorative films inspired by the signature GTI honeycomb. 

The exclusive finishing touches includes 'Edition 50' tint and emblems on both B-pillars, while the Oettinger body kit consists of black front spoiler, black roof spoiler and diffuser.

Its wheels are fitted with 18-inch ‘Pretoria’ light alloys in high-gloss black finish, GTI Dynamic wheel hub caps, and VW Design aluminium valve caps.

The '50' emblem is also found on the interior at the centre spoke of the GTI’s multi-function sport steering wheel, 'Edition 50' aluminium side scuff plates as well as 'Edition 50' front carpet mats.

“This special edition GTI represents a milestone for us as we celebrate the Golf’s 50th anniversary. The GTI is already such an exceptional model, and the Edition 50’s upgrades certainly adds a unique touch that makes it a collectible item. 

"We believe that the Edition 50 will appeal to those in the GTI’s already passionate fanbase looking for that something extra special,” said VCPM managing director Denyu Bostandzhiev.

Like the standard GTI it is powered by a 2.0TSI turbocharged engine coupled with 7-speed wet clutch DSG to produce 245PS and 370Nm of torque.

Interior is fitted with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 480-watt 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system that is paired to a 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system that is capable of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

 

Safety is supported with Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive technology and advanced driver assistance systems such as Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist and Head-up Display.

The GTI Edition 50 is available exclusively in Oryx White and Moonstone Grey colours and is priced at the recommended retail price (RRP) of RM267,990. 

Price is inclusive of Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) which supports owners with 5 years maintenance, 5 years unlimited mileage warranty, and 5 years roadside assistance.

The car will be available for viewing at Volkswagen dealerships from Aug 17 and will be on display during the upcoming Golf Fan Fest on Aug 24.
